Jamie Richard Vardy is a 31 year old English striker. He was born in Sheffield, England 11th of January 1987. Vardy currently plays in the Premier League for Leicester City and the English national team. He started playing for the Championship team Sheffield Wednesday, which is his hometown team and was released from the team at the age of sixteen. Vardy began playing for Stocksbridge Park Steels after he was released from Wednesday and broke in to the first team in 2007 at the age of 20, and spent three seasons there before transferring to Northern Premier League club F.C. Halifax Town in 2010. On his debut season he scored 25 goals for the club that season, after that dream season he won ‘’Player’s Player of the Year’’ award. Vardy was making 350 pounds a week and was bought to Leicester City in May 2012, Vardy was handed 5 year deal for 45.000 pounds a week.


Vardy made his debut for Leicester on 14 May scoring the final goal in a 4-0 win against Torquay United in the first round of the League Cup. The following season Vardy had made a name in Leicester and scored a stunning penalty against their rival team Derby County (4-1 victory). Leicester finished in top of the league and was promoted to the Premier League and was named Leicester’s Player’s Player of the season at the club awards. Vardy made his Premier League debut on 31 August 2014. Vardy scored his first Premier League goal against West Bromwich Albion in a 3-2 victory. The 2015-16 season was a historical season in the Premier League as Leicester won the League after spending one season in the League.


Vardy started the season of really strong and broke a record of scoring in eleven consecutive league matches in a row. Vardy was the Premier League Player of the Month for October and November 2015, the first Leicester player to be given the accolade since 2000. He was also presented with a certified from Guinness World Record for his achievement. After his great performance Vardy had risen from 2.1 million to 18.8 million pounds. On February 6th he signed a new contract with Leicester to 2019 and increasing his weekly salary to 80.000 pounds. He scored 24 league goals that made him the second highest scorer in the Premier League for the 2015-16 season, after Sergio Aguero. Vardy was one of four Leicester players in the PFA Team of the Year, he was later also named the FWA Footballer of the Year, and the 2016 Barclays Premier League Player of the Season.
