Atli Jóhannson is an Icelandic football player who played for Stjarnan, ÍBV and KR. He played central midfielder for all teams. He was born in 1982 in October the fifth. He is 1.78 cm in height.
Senior career
He grew up in Vestmannaeyjar where he started playing for ÍBV. He started out with ÍBV in the Pepsi - league just before moving to KR in 2007 where he went on to play for three years in the Pepsi -league and even played in the europa league. Then in 2010 he made a move to Stjarnan FC. He had five good years in Gardabaer playing for Stjarnan. He helped Stjarnan get into the europa league. Where they played 8 games including 2 games against Motherwell which ended up in a dramatic win with Atli scoring a beautiful goal in extra time securing a victory, he then later said that the game against Motherwell was the best game in his career, he had an assist, he got a penalty and scored a winner. They then played Lech Poznan and won them with an aggregate of 1-0, which meant they were playing for a seat in the europa league group stage. They drew against Inter Milan which was huge for an icelandic team. They lost against them 0-3 at home and the Inter coach said Atli Jóhansson and Ólafur Karl Finsen were the two best players in the team and said they could be playing at a higher level. Later that same year Stjarnan played against FH in the last game of the pepsi - league and this was a final, Stjarnan were two points behind FH in the final game. They won a dramatic victory over FH in the game and stood up as Icelandic champions in 2014. In the winter before the season in 2015 he got hurt and he only played one game in the summer which was in the champions league against Celtic. He had a good a career in iceland and won one league title. He is now head coach for stjarnan U19’s team, where he is doing a good job.
