Dimitar Ivanov Berbatov was born in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria in 1981. He just turned 37 last January and is still playing in the Indian football league for a team named Kerala Blasters FC.
He joined CSKA Sofia when he was 17 year old in 1998. He had a great 3 year career there, developing his goalscoring skills and managing to score 26 goals in 50 games. In 2001 he signed for Bayer Leverkusen for 2,50 Mill. €. He played 154 games there and scored 59 goals, also coming on as a substitute in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, where Leverkusen lost 2-1.
In 2006 he signed for Tottenham for a 38,00 Mill. € where he spent the next two years and this is where he managed to impress Sir Alex Ferguson whom he would 2 years later sign for.
At deadline day in 2008, Berbatov moved to Manchester United for £30.75 million. He signed a four-year contract. Berbatov played his best football when he was in his prime at United. He scored 48 goals in 108 games in the league which is a better goal return than for any other top-flight team he played for. During his time with United he won the Premier League twice, a golden boot in the 10-11 season and he played in his second Champions League final in 2009 where United lost to Barcelona 2-0.
After United he had a few short stays with Fulham, Monaco, PAOK which leads us to the team he is playing with now which is Kerala Blasters.
Berbatov has had a successful international career. He captained the team between 2006 and 2010. He is Bulgaria‘s top scorer with 48 goals in 78 games which leads to 0.60 average and he is the 12th most capped player.
