Giroud got his first red card versus Fulham and that meant that he would miss out the last 3 matches and there were only four to go. Giroud had a decent first year with Arsenal scoring 17 goals 11 assists in 47 appearances.
Oliver scored in Arsenal's opening game in a 3-1 loss against Aston Villa. Giroud scored the only goal in the London derby and that made fans delighted. Giroud scored Arsenal's final goal of the year a nice header assisted by Theo Walcott winning the game 1-0 versus Newcastle. That victory placed Arsenal at the top of the table. Giroud then picked up an ankle injury that left him out for 2 weeks, he then played against Aston Villa and scoring 1 goal in a 2-0 win. Giroud scored twice against Everton in the FA quarter-finals winning the game 4-1. Arsenal was up against Wigan in the FA semi-final the game went to penalties and Giroud was one of the many to score. After making it to the FA cup finals Arsenal was up against Hull City, Oliver started the game and assisted Aaron Ramsey's winning goal. Giroud ended the season with 16 goals 8 assists and appearing in 37 games.
In the 2015/16 season, Giroud struggles to be consistent throughout the season. He did not score until on 20 October in the Champions League against Bayern Munich. Giroud continued to perform well in his next days and according to The Guardian, Arsné Wenger (Arsenal manager) ranked Giroud as one of the best strikers in Europe. “If you look at the number of goals he has scored you have to give him credit,” Wenger said. “And he is not only a goalscorer – he works a lot for the team. He is among the best strikers in Europe.” Wenger said that after Giroud scored his first Arsenal hat-trick against Olympiacos on 9. December 2015. Four days later he became one of the seven players for Arsenal who have scored over 50 premier league goals For Arsenal. Giroud then went on a 15-match goal drought starting in January. He finally scored on 8. May 2016 in a 2-2 draw against Manchester City. According to the Daily mail, in a post-match interview Giroud said: “The goal meant a lot because it has been a tough time for me on the pitch as I have missed a bit of efficiency, a bit of luck and a lot of things, Things haven't gone my way to [allow me to] finish, but I kept the faith and knew that it would come back.” Giroud ended the season with 24 goals in 53 games, 16 goals on the premier league.
After winning the Euro 2016 with France, Giroud was not in starting plans for Arsné Wenger and did not start the first 17 games for Arsenal. Although he was not starting, Giroud appeared as a substitute in 10 of them, scoring 3 goals. According to the Independent, Giroud warned Arsenal that he wants more playing time next season. "Wenger is counting on me even though he hasn't used me much," said the 30-year-old, before firing a warning. Following the signing of Lacazette from Lyon for 53 million pounds, the Future of Olivier Giroud was in doubt and many speculate that he would leave the club soon. According to Liverpool Echo, Everton was interested in signing Giroud and would probably make a bid in the summer transfer window. However, when the transfer window shut, Giroud remained an Arsenal player for the time being. According to BBC, Giroud admitted that he might leave in January in the hope of being named in the 2018 world cup squad for France. On January 2018, Chelsea completed the signing of Giroud for around 18 million pounds. The transfer was confirmed after Arsenal signed the striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a club-record fee from Borussia Dortmund for 60 million pounds. In an interview with ChelseaFC.com Giroud said: “Chelsea is one of the biggest teams in the Premier League. They have won maybe the most trophies in the last six or seven years. It’s a massive club and I am proud to sign for Chelsea, and I’m looking forward to playing.” However, there are some rumours that Chelsea boss Antonia Conte did not want to sign Giroud. According to Steve Nicol, A ESPN FC pundit and a former Liverpool right-back claimed that he was not interested in signing Giroud and was more interested in Signing Roma Striker Edin Dzeko, which Chelsea failed to sign.
