Jón Daði Böðvarsson

Jón Daði is an Icelandic football player, he is born 25th may in 1992. He grew up in Selfoss and played football for them in his early years, in 2009 he made his first appearance for the senior team, scoring 20 goals for Selfoss in his first season, as they were promoted to “Pepsi-deildin”. He continued playing for Selfoss until 2012, except for a brief loan in 2011 to the danish club Aarhus, they relegated in the summer of 2010 only to get promoted again in 2011 with the club scoring 70 goals in their season. Next season was Jón Daðis last season with Selfoss, they almost scored 70 goals again in the “Pepsi-deild”.


Club career

Jón Daði moved to the norwegian Club Viking, he only scored 15 goals in 3 seasons for Viking from Norway he went to Germany to the second division to Kaiserslautern he made his debut against Union Berlin on February 5th he scored his first goal a month later against Nürnberg, that was the first goal of two he scored for the German team. In August he signed a contract with Wolverhampton there he scored on his debut and he became quite popular with the fans although he scored only 3 goals in total for the club, he became close with fans through the “Viking clap”. Despite his popularity he moved yet again but this time not to far, he signed for Reading and now has 5 goals for them.


International team

He played 7 games for the under 19 team and 12 for under 21 team scoring a total of 3 goals. In 2014 on September 9 he made his debut for Iceland in a competition against turkey in the Euro qualifiers and scored in a 3-0 victory over them, he had played friendlies for Iceland a couple of times before from 2012. He was a part of the Iceland team that made history in the Euros in 2016 he even scored against Austria in the group stage he started all five games for Iceland in the competition.


Jón's playing style

He plays as a striker or a winger he is extremely important in every team he plays for as he has Ana amazing work rate, and is helpful on both sides on the pitch, he can score goals and assist, and also help by taking good runs and winning the ball against the opponents.
