His first professional contract was in the summer of 2011. On 6. November 2012 he was sent on a loan to Leicester City when they were in the Championship. He played five games for Leicester. The next three seasons he was sent on loan to Birmingham City where he made a big debut when he scored four goals for Birmingham City when they won 4-1 against Sheffield. Next he went to Brighton & Hove Albion and Derby in these teams he played 42 games and scored 11 goals.

His debut for Manchester United in the Premier League was a loss against Swansea City but in Louis van Gaal first official match as their manager but later that season Lingard was sent on a loan deal to Derby.

His first goal for United came in a win against WBA on 7th November 2015. In the 2016/2017 season, he played 25 games and scored 1 goal. But now this season Lingard has been outstanding with 7 goals and 4 assists in 21 games in the Premier League. Jessie played three times for the U17 team in England in 2008, also a few U21 games.

His first call up for the national team was in November 2015 but made his debut a year later when he started as left wing against Malta and they won the game 2-0.

In 2018 he only has played eight national games which is weird because he is a very talented player and probably will be a key player for England in the near future.
