Christian Benteke Liolo is a 27 year old striker who plays for Crystal Palace and the Belgium national team. Benteke was born in Kinshasa in 1990. His family fled in 1993 because of the Mobutu regime. They fled to Liege Belgium.
Standard Liege and Genk
Benteke started playing youth football for JS Pierreuse and then Standard Liege. Then he joined Genk. After some time he rejoined Standard in 2009 and scored 3 goals in 12 matches. In August 2009 he joined KV Kortrijk on loan where he scored 14 goals. He spent the next season on loan at KV Mechelen he only scored 7 goals in 25 appearances. In 2011 he joined Genk from Standard for an undisclosed fee. He scored 16 goals and got 9 assists in 20 appearances for them.
Aston Villa
In 31 August 2012 he joined Aston Villa on a four year deal for 7 million pounds. Benteke said that it was a dream come true to be able to play in the Premier league and he thanked the manager and the players for his move. Benteke scored on his debut on 15 September 2012 in a 2-0 win over Swansea. The manager praised him by saying he was unplayable. He had a really good 2012-2013 season scoring 23 goals and beating the record for the most goals scored in a season by a Aston villa player. In the 2013-2014 season there where speculations about his future at Villa but they wouldn’t let him go if there valuations where met.
Liverpool
Benteke signed for Liverpool on 22 July 2015 for 32.5 million pounds making him Liverpools second most expensive signing. He made his debut against Swindon Town scoring one goal in a 2-1 win. He made his competitive debut on the 9 August in a 1-0 win against Stoke. In his next match he scored his first goal in the premier league against Bournemouth. Benteke sat most of the time on the bench he made 42 appearances and scoring 10 goals.
Crystal Palace
20 August 2016 Crystal Palace signed Benteke for 27 million pounds. Benteke scored his first goal against Middlesbrough in a 2-1 win in only his second game. Benteke scored 2 goals against Liverpool at Anfield in a 2-1 win over Liverpool.
