Bakary Sako started his career in France before later joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Saint-Étienne for 2.2 Million. He made his debut on 30. of August 2012 against Northampton in the league cup and scored. Sako was quick to adapt to English football, with ten goals and eleven assists before getting injured in March 2013 which ruled him out for the rest of the season. While Sako was Injured, Wolves got relegated from the Championship to the League One. In the League One, Sako had a magnificent season. He finished wolves joint top-scorer with 12 goals as Wolves won the league with a record amount of points. In addition, Sako finished the season with 15 assists and was named in the League one team of the year. back in the Championship, Sako continued to perform well. He ended the season with 15 goals and 10 assists and was named in the Championship team of the year. A lot of speculation was surrounding the future of Bakary Sako as his contract with Wolves expired at the end of the season.
Sako joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer when his contract with wolves expired. Sako was excited to play in the Premier League and according to BBC, Sako said: "I talked to some clubs but when I met manager Alan Pardew I felt a good feeling between him and me and that's why I chose Palace," said Sako."He plays attacking, attractive football so it should be good to play here and score some goals. That's why I came to join him." Sako started his Palace career well, scoring two goals in his first two games. Although Sako started well, he never broke into the first team and this was his only goals that season. In his second season, Sako only took part in seven games and failed to score or assist in a single game.
In the 2017/18 season, Sako career went uphill. Following the sacking of Frank De Boer and Roy Hodgson hired as manager, Sako got more chances. In his first 15 games, he has scored 3 goals. Hodgson was very impressed and in an interview with the Evening standard, Hodgson said: “I’ve been impressed with Bakary even before he came on as a sub in the past two games and scored. “In the training sessions I have seen a different person over the past couple of months than the one I saw in my first month. It lessened some of the fears we had when Christian was unfit, and we did not feel we had anyone who could step in to do that type of job.”
