Aymeric Laporte is born in Agen, France. Laporte is a left footed defender and is known for his composure, strenght and good passes from the defence. Laporte was bought to Athletic Bilbao at the age of 15. He made his debut at the age of 18 when he played 90 minutes in 2-0 away win against the Israel team Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona F.C in Europa League. Laporte made his first La Liga appearance on month after his first European game for Bilbao, 9. December 2012, Laporte came of the bench in a 1-0 home win over Celta Vigo. Marcelo Bielsa was the man that believed in the boy and gave him more minutes and confiedence to be the main man in the middle of the heart only 18 years of age. After 1 month or so he got a new contract to 2015, and was given the number 4 that was previosly worn by Ustaritz, late in the month he renewed his contract again to 2016. In 2013 Ernesto Valverde that is manager of Barcelona now, took charge of Athletic Bilbao and made Laporte his trust to play every minute. He scored his first professional goal under his charge and was it the winning goal against Getafe Cf, 28. October 2013. At the end of his “first” season with Bilbao he voted into the La Liga Team of the Year by reporters. In June 2015 Laporte extended his contract to 2019, he then extended his contract again until 2020 with his buyout clause rising to an initial €65 million. Laporte played over 200 games and score 10 goals for the spanish team. He won Copa Del Rey 2016 With Bilbao. He has been one of the best defender in La Liga last 3 years.
Near the end of the winter transfer window of January 2018, Laporte signed for Manchester City for £57m. He was given the number 17 jersey. Manchester City broke their record transfer signing with this buy. Pep Guardiola has been after him for a long time. Laporte is excectly the type of a player that Guardiola likes, calm and has a good eye for the game, and of course is a great defender. Laporte got his debut for Manchester City the 31 January 2018, one day after he was bought to the club, so it is clear that he his going to use the player. Guardiola and the team has played briliantly, and are in first place. Now they have Laporte, Stones, Otamendi, Mangala and kompany to play in the center of the defend.
