The Pepsi League 2018

Now that it is the beginning of the Pepsi league 2018 I thought it might be a great time to show my prediction of the upcoming season. Some teams will fight for the top spot and places in the European championship but others will fight to keep their spot in the division…

1. Valur Reykjavík

Valur won the season last year and for me I think they will win it again. Last year they had a really strong team but they still needed 2-3 strong players for this season because its important to get fresh meet on the table. Valur did just that and racked in alot of very strong players that will help them keep the title.

2. Stjarnan

A very strong team with very slight changes from last season. Their team is very organized and very powerful. Stjarnan ended in second place last season and for me will do so again. Their most important player is Baldur Olsen who could become the next star of the season.

3. FH

they really needed to mix up their squad if they wanted to make it to the european championship spot. FH did just that and way more when the bought 9 powerful players who all could potentially start games as well as changing their manager.

4. Breiðablik

As i said before Breiðablik needed a different character as a coach after last seasons 2 coaches. And now with the arrival of Gústi Gylfa they have a fighting chance for a spot in the european championship

5. KA

Where very strong last season as beginners and made a great goalkeeper signing when they signed Christian Martinez from Víkingur Ó. Overall they have a very solid team with some amazing players like Hallgrímur Mar

6. KR

A lot of people might be surprised by this decision but i think the team is too old and far too slow. There is not the same amount of money in Vesturbærinn as it was back in the day. Their new coach Rúnar Kristinsson might pull something for them tho.

7. Fjölnir

Maybe not what people expected but they have a fresh team and the atmosphere in Grafarvogurinn is amazing. Young players such as Birnir Snær and and Ægir Jarl will really show what they’re worth this season.

8. Grindavík

They were amazing as beginner last season but will struggle this season after the loss of their top scorer Andri Rúnar and a failure to fill in his shoes. Grindavík have been alright in the pre-season but the Pepsi league is a diffrent ball game. Óli Stefáns gets all my respect for good control of the team

9. ÍBV

I had to think really hard about this decision but i have to let them slide to the 9th spot this season due to a lot of changes in the team. Kaj Leo will be there main man this summer

10. Fylkir

The atmosphere in Árbærinn is going to be through the roof this season. They will not get demoted this season but will not be far from it as their team isn’t the strongest.

11. Víkingur R

As much as i like this club it is way easier to say that they are much likely to get demoted than ÍBV or Fylkir. They have been terrible in the pre-season and have not made enough important changes this season to stay in the top division.

12. Keflavík

The old empire were promoted last season but still have the same team which makes it clear to me that they will struggle this season. The bottom quarter of the league will be very close and Keflavík and Víkingur won’t go down without a fight.
