Bristol City´s Incredible Carabao Cup Run

Bristol began their fantastic run against Plymouth Argyle on the eight of August. Plymouth have recently been promoted to League One. They did not stand a chance against Bristol City and lost 5-0. It´s fair to say they got unlucky in the second round draw and got Watford away from home. Bristol took the challenge with open arms and beat Watford 3-2, great game from Bristol and the dream was kept alive.

In the third round Bristol got Stoke in their home field. It was a great game for all Bristol City fans as they beat stoke 2-0. Next up where the underperforming Crystal Palace under the management of Roy Hodgson. Bristol absolutely battered them 4-1 in a magnificent game.

After beating three Premier league oppositions and Plymouth Argyle to get to the Quarterfinals they’re biggest challenge yet awaited them, a home game against one of the biggest clubs in world football, Manchester United. This game was played on the 20th of December, Bristol got on the score sheet first with a great finish from Joe Bryant. However only seven minuets later Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored from a wonderful free kick. The additional time was three minutes and everybody thought the game was heading to extra time but Korey Smith and Bristol had other ideas. Bristol scored a winner through Korey after an assist from Matty Taylor. They had done the impossible, Bristol had knocked the giants out.

The semi finals had Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and finally Bristol City. But that was where the dream came to an end. After playing Manchester City two times they had been beaten 5-3 on aggregate.

No one can blame them for not putting up a fight. They poured their heart and soul in to these games but it was just not enough. 25th of February we will see Manchester City face off against Arsenal, potentially Arsene Wenger´s last chance to win this competition.
